WELCOME TO BERLIN!
I've put together some of my favorite locations: restaurants and pubs, museums and art spaces, sports and recreational sites.
Berlin offers more than 15,000 restauration facilities; you find them in your tourist's guide or in the internet. What you see here are just the few I like — without guaranteeing completeness or that you will like them, too.
You'll see that I prefer unpretentious locations free from chi-chi and rather attend authentic places than made-ups for tourists.
If you on your Berlin excursions discover places worth mentioning and think I should present them here please write to my_berlin@apartment4u.berlin
♥︎  The more the better I like it.
The more the more it's expensive.
The more chef's hats the better it's cooked.

Certainly one of the best «Chinese» of the city. Tasty chines bites, uncredibly tasty. I love all of the menu (and tasted it!) and particularly love the ox's cheek, the grilles asparagus and the baby-calamar brochets (spears).

«The Old Laundry» is exactly this: an old, almost historic, laundry factory hall in the last backyard of a rather run-down old building in a not-so beloved neigbourhood. Redecorated while preserving the historic substance it has become one of the most interesting restaurants in Berlin. Order of menu changes weekly between fish or meat, but there isn't much you could order outside the menu. You'll be served the menu, water and wine. That's it! But that will be a very joyful evening and the location is just great, the food typical Italian and perfect.

Berlin's oldest beer garden, founded in 1837 (they say), seating on picnic benches for 600 people.
Shaded by the old chestnut trees you sit nicely and breath the feeling of a capital city.
Excessively overpriced as it is self-service only and only basic (convenience-)food: Bratwurst (3 / 3.50 €) potato salad, Pretzel (2.50 €).
The rather simple restaurant, too, asks rather above-average prices: Viennese Schnitzel 21€ fried chicken 18.50€(!) — but it's a very charming place nevertheless.

The children are already thrilled at the entrance: A pool with Koi carps to caress. In the blue shimmering corridors of the underwater world, I encounter dangerous, colorful, bizarre, disgusting and astonishing creatures. Caimans are so lazy they don't even keep an eye out for me. The insect department also requires to overwhelm disgust, is very exciting and instructive.
Compared to this aquarium, the private underwater worlds are just barren, primitive goldfish glasses.
· great fun for children
· see internet for «special events» e.g. flashlight tours
· bring your own picnic because the cafe is lousy

Fascinating nature: from Dinosaur to (padded) polar bears, snow owls, duck — in one word every creature that creeps and flees. Enormous collection of (semi-)precious stones, crystals, and fossilised archeological finds.
Big fun and absolute must for both young and not-so-young-anymore. Plan to spend 3 hours.
Cool inside on hot summer days, shelter on cold or rainy days.
Museum's cafeteria unacceptable.

Charming GDR memories may arise in the public lido in the lake that gave this district its name. Swimming in the lake is possible all around its strand — you'll easily find a spot on o piece of lawn somewhere. But with children unable of swimming a visit to the official pool area might pay out. There, a pool attendant will watch and a non-swimmer's area is available. A small catering provides fast food, ice cream and beverages; just don't expect any hi-class cuisine.
Some summer evening concerts are being organised bringing jazz or rock'n'roll or pop.
